Savant Lighting TrueImage: Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does the Savant Lighting TrueImage app control my Smart Lights?

    Savant Lighting works using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Mesh technology. Each Smart Light has the ability to relay commands to any other light within Bluetooth range, forming an interconnected "mesh" of Bluetooth communication pathways.  As long as your iOS device running the Savant Lighting TrueImage App is within range of one of your Smart Lights, control commands will be passed along to any other light within the mesh. The supported range for Bluetooth communication between Smart Lights or from your mobile device to Smart Lights is 30 feet, although depending on environmental factors like walls or other obstructions, or potential sources of interference which can affect Bluetooth connectivity, this range may vary, and successful communication and control may be possible at greater distances.
  • What types of fixtures will Savant Lighting smart bulbs work with?

    Savant Smart Lights will work with any non-dimmable fixture which is compatible with the specific bulb or light's specifications; please see the packaging, product insert card, or the product information article on our Knowledge Base for detailed product specifications. Dimmable fixtures or wiring which does not provide a constant and even level of power are not supported, and are unnecessary, as Savant Smart Lights provide a full range of dimmer functionality on their own from a standard connection. It's also important to keep in mind that because Savant Lighting works using Bluetooth technology, certain recessed or fully enclosed fixtures may affect connectivity. These types of fixtures can also potentially cause lights to operate at a very high temperature. All standard precautions or recommended safety measures which may apply for any specific fixtures should be followed.
  • What types of devices can I use to run the Savant Lighting TrueImage App?

    Savant Lighting TrueImage is available through the App Store for all iOS devices running iOS 10.x or higher. Currently the TrueImage app is not available for the Android platform.
  • Can I control my Savant Smart Lights remotely when I am away from home?

    This is not possible at this time. Savant Lighting uses a Bluetooth Mesh network to communicate with and control your Smart Lights, so your mobile device running the Savant Lighting TrueImage app must be within Bluetooth communication range of at least one of your Smart Lights in order to control them.
  • Are Savant Lighting Smart Bulbs energy efficient? How do they compare to similar traditional lightbulbs?

    Savant Smart Lighting bulbs are much more energy efficient than a standard incandescent bulb which outputs similar luminosity. For specific comparisons of each Savant Lighting bulb model and comparable incandescent bulbs, please see the associated article on our Knowledge Base.
  • Will my Savant Smart Lights work with third-party products like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple Homekit, IFTTT, etc.?

    At this time, Savant Lighting can only be controlled via the Savant Lighting TrueImage App, and is not compatible with any third-party products or software. Integration with many third-party devices is however available in our Savant Pro line of home automation solutions.
  • Where can I find more detailed product information and specifications for Savant Smart Bulbs?

    For a list of detailed technical specifications, please refer to the packaging or product insert card for your Savant Lighting smart bulbs, or see the product specifications document on our Knowledge Base.
  • How many Savant Lighting Smart Lights can I add to my home?

    We support control of up to 150 individual Smart Lights in a single Bluetooth Mesh network using the Savant Lighting TrueImage app.
  • Can my Savant Smart Lights be controlled from more than one iOS device?

    Yes. By logging in to multiple devices using the same Savant User Account, your Savant Lighting configuration, Scenes, images, and Smart Lights can all be accessed and controlled from multiple mobile devices.
  • How do I control a single Savant Smart Light individually rather than as part of a Group?

    Individual Smart Lights can be added to the Savant Lighting TrueImage App by selecting “None” when assigning the Group, or by simply creating a Group of only one light. If your Smart Light is a part of a Group, it cannot also be configured for individual control, However it is possible to control multiple individual Smart Lights at once using Scenes.
  • How do I reorder my Rooms, Groups, or Scenes in the TrueImage app?

    Currently, Rooms, Groups, and Scenes are all listed in the order they were added to your Savant TrueImage app User configuration, and cannot be reordered. Please look for this feature in an upcoming release.
  • How do I set a schedule for my Savant Smart Lights?

    Please look out for this feature to be available in an upcoming release of the Savant Lighting TrueImage app, using the Scenes functionality.
  • How do I reset my Savant Smart Lights?

    If you need to reset your Smart Light to its factory default for any reason, this can be done by either deleting the Smart Light from the Savant Lighting TrueImage app, or by cycling the light on and off four times using the physical light switch or fixture. Wait for the light to fully come on before shutting it off again. When successfully reset, your Smart Light will flash a series of colors in sequence: green, blue, orange, violet, then back to white. Once the light has finished cycling through the color sequence, it has been successfully reset, and can now be scanned for and re-added in the app.
  • Can I use Savant Lighting bulbs outside?

    This depends on the specific model of bulb. The Savant Lighting Outdoor BR30 Flood is intended for indoor or outdoor use. Please see the product specifications article on our Knowledge Base for detailed specifications
  • Will Savant Lighting work outside of the United States?

    Yes. Savant Lighting bulbs are supported for use internationally. For detailed universal power specifications for all available models, please see the product specifications article on our Knowledge Base.
  • Which standards are Savant Lighting bulbs compliant with?

    Savant Lighting bulbs are compliant with ETL, CE, RoHS, and FCC standards. If you have further questions regarding compliance, please feel free to contact us.
  • What is the policy for product returns and what sort of warranty terms are Savant Lighting products covered by?

    Product returns are subject to the policies and terms of the retailer whom you purchased your Savant Lighting products from. All Savant products are covered by a Limited 2-Year Warranty, and defective products will be repaired or replaced. Detailed Savant Limited Product Warranty terms are available on our Knowledge Base. If you believe you have a defective product which is covered by the warranty terms, please contact Savant Support, and we will be glad to assist you.
  • What is the expected product life span for my Savant Lighting bulbs?

    Savant Lighting bulbs have an expected life of 20+ years.
