The EHS Leader will lead EHS across North America to world-class Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) performance. The successful candidate will have exceptional technical and communication skills and the ability to influence leaders across all functions.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The position reports to the Chief Supply Chain Officer. The scope includes EHS responsibilities for all Lighting functions and locations in North America and facilities oversight for the Corporate Headquarters campus. Success will be assured through building positive, effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external customers.
•Develop and implement EHS strategy to lead the North America operations to world-class EHS performance; work cross functionally to understand the needs of the business and implement programs that support business needs and are responsive to the external environment
•Drive metrics development and facilitate progress toward goals
•Coach and develop site EHS Representatives to identify growth opportunities and meet their career potential; ensure retention of key talent;
•Manage North Americas EHS and NELA campus Facilities budgets; set priorities and review EHS programs.
•Provide leadership on regulatory agency interactions related to operations and legacy sites, as needed
•Assure correct reporting of all incidents according to regulatory, Lighting and requirements and procedures; review and evaluate root cause incident analysis as needed; ensure appropriate follow up and communication are complete
•Provide high level leadership to the Corporate Headquarters campus Facilities function.
•Support information and customer requests within Americas region
WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS POSITION
•Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related discipline
•Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience in a professional EHS role
•Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment
•Strong interpersonal skills; excellent organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize and drive multiple programs; strong communication and negotiating skills
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
•Demonstrated knowledge of global compliance regulations and industry practices
•Knowledge of GE's EHS management systems
•Hands-on attitude, analytical skills, coaching capability
